Meditation – A Way of Life
Ever since the Tara Centre opened in June 1996, the practice of meditation as part and parcel of everyday life has been facilitated as a “user-friendly” approach to deepen an awareness of the Source of all life that lies deep within the heart/soul of each person and within all life forms. It is through this connection with the Source that healing can take place, hope can be restored, and that life can be lived to its full potential.
We approach the teaching of meditation from a generic perspective which respects each participants’ world view and/or spiritual orientation.
In recent years, we have adapted our programme to include an appropriate emphasis on core elements of mindfulness within the broad canvas of the universal, age-old multi-faceted generic approach to the practice of meditation. It is within this context that we offer our teaching and practice.
To understand the immeasurable, the mind must be extraordinarily quiet, still.

Tuesday Meditation
For over 25 years, the Tara Centre Co-Founders have been this hosting soul-nourishing Tuesday morning meditation at the Centre. It has became a cherished space for sharing an ethos which enriches the quality of life at truly transformational levels. This 90-minute group meditation offers a gentle, generic practice, starting with body and breath awareness and culminating in a shared period of silence. It is an opportunity to quiet the mind, open the heart, and experience the depth of inner peace that arises when we pause together.
Homecoming – Interactive Meditative Gatherings
Through guided meditation, ritual, storytelling, and creative reflection, Aileen McGee will facilitate the exporation on themes of grounding, clarity, and inner light. All gatherings are linked to the time of the year and are an invitation to pause, set intentions, and reconnect with what matters most as nature begins to stir towards the upcoming season.
An Homage to the Soul of Healing
For over 25 years, the Soul of Healing (SOH) one-day Saturday gatherings were a cornerstone of the Tara Centre’s work, lovingly hosted by our Co-Founders, Maura Twohig and Mary Daly. These cherished occasions offered a sanctuary for seasoned meditators to come together, creating an atmosphere of healing, peace, and holistic well-being.
Over the years, these intensives have touched countless lives, fostering an ethos that enriches and transforms the quality of life for all who attend. While in March 2025 the time had come to conclude SOH gatherings in their traditional form, the Tara Centre remains deeply committed to exploring new ways to carry forward this vital dimension of our work.
