Complementary Therapies

Complementary Therapy Treatments are a very significant dimension of the multi-disciplinary approach taken at the Tara Centre in support of holistic health, healing and general wellbeing.

In keeping with the Centre’s strongly held belief that ‘one size does not fit all’, Tara offers a wide range of Complementary Therapy Treatments.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the controlled use of essential oils by different methods to boost and enhance the well-being of the mind, body and spirit. Essential oils are highly fragrant and are extracted from flowers, leaves, twigs, bark, roots and fruits of many common plants. These essential oils have many different properties and, as research has shown, can be stimulating, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, reduce anxiety, aid relaxation and improve the quality of sleep. Aromatherapy, therefore, has the ability to affect the emotions, promote bodily wellbeing and psychological balance.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a relaxing treatment involving direct touch to the feet and ankles. The theory behind reflexology is that areas of the foot correspond to organs and systems of the body. By stimulating these reflex points, reflexology helps to restore the body’s balance, enhances relaxation and sleep, and encourages the body’s own healing potential.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a safe, simple, yet effective therapy received while fully clothed. This non-invasive treatment is applied to areas of the upper back/shoulders/arms/neck/scalp/face and ears. It is a holistic therapy, renowned for relieving symptoms of stress, anxiety and mental tension.

It has the capacity to promote a sense of general wellbeing.
